PURPOSE:To improve the usability by converting a peripheral equipment being in the vicinity of a work station to a closed area, and providing a means for changing a name given to the equipment which is available in this space converted to the closed area, to an equipment name determined uniquely by the whole system. CONSTITUTION:In case an operator who is using a work station 3 of a personal 5-1 outputs a result to a serial printer 4, a unique name given to the serial printer 4 within a range of the personal 5-1 is designated to a system control device 1. As a result, the designated unique name is converted to a unique equipment name in the system corresponding to it, and thereafter, a desired serial printer is operated by this unique equipment name.
