PURPOSE:To prevent jamming from occurring at a printing part, by a construction wherein a guide member for forcibly guiding in a predetermined direction a paper passed between a platen and an ink ribbon is provided so that it can be moved toward and away from the platen. CONSTITUTION:By an initializing signal, the position of an ink ribbon 17 is shifted to the lowermost stage, and a plunger magnet 31 is driven to turn guide member arms 28a, 28b in the direction of an arrow L to retract the guide member 26 from the printing part. When the guide member 26 is retacted to the state 26' indicated by two-dotted lines, the paper 3 is inserted from the rear of the platen 2. The paper 3 is clamped between a feeding roller 13 and the platen 2, is fed a predetermined amount through the position of the front surface of a printing head 12 along a guide plate 14, and is stopped through the gap between the ribbon 17 and a guide plate 33 as indicated by an arrow N. Then, the magnet 31 is reset, and the guide member 26 is turned in the direction of an arrow M to guide the leading end part of the paper 3 between the leaf spring 33 and the feeding roller 5. Thereafter, the ink ribbon 17 is shifted to select a desired color, and printing is conducted. |
