PURPOSE:To enable to save power of a motor by supplying the motor with power according to the shifting operation of the carriage and the selective action of a type support element at the time thereof. CONSTITUTION:When a printing signal is inputted from a keyboard 39, a CPU40 excites a switching solenoid 36 to block the movement of the carriage and makes a shift to selective action. An actuation signal is outputted to a small power supply circuit 43 and an excitation phase switching circuit 41 therefrom to rotate a motor 14 by a specified value with a small power so that a specified type of a type support element will be arranged selectively at the printing position, the condition will be held with the action of the held power supply circuit 44 and the solenoid 36 is demagnetized to block the rotation of the type support element. Then, a printing solenoid 21 is excited to operate a hammer thereby performing a printing. Thereafter, an actuation signal is outputted to a large power supply circuit 42 and the excitation phase switching circuit 41 to rotate the motor 14 by a specified value with a large power for shifting the carriage by one character pitch. |
