PURPOSE:To protect a skew of magnetic tape from being increased when a magnetic tape runs backward by delaying a signal read by the magnetic head to correct the skew when the magnetic tape runs for ward, and outputting the signal directly read without making the signal delay. CONSTITUTION:When the magnetic tape runs backward, skews of the signals read by magnetic heads 11-19 become symmetric to those of signals read by the magnetic head when the tape runs forward, respectively, and go to peak position signals (PKO). That is, the peak positions signal on track 1 where the peak position signal which was generated earliest is generated latest at forward tape running, while the peak position signals on tracks 5 and 6 which were generated latest is generated earliest at forward running of tape. On other tracks such as 2-4 and 7-9, too, the peak position signals symmetric to those obtained. The peak position signals (PKO) do not terminate delay circuit 14,...,94, but set data registers 15,...,95 via OR circuits 18,...,98. |
