The present invention relates to an improvement to a burner for a hearth. The burner according to the invention comprises a barrel 4 for introducing a primary oxidising agent 6, or primary barrel, a barrel 5 for introducing secondary oxidising agent 7, or secondary barrel, a device for injecting 2 fuel 1 and a deflector/stabiliser 14 situated substantially at the end of the primary barrel facing the hearth. It is characterised in that the secondary barrel 5 comprises, at its end emerging in the hearth, a converger 20 intended to direct the secondary oxidising agent towards the primary oxidising agent. This burner may be fitted to industrial or domestic hearths. <IMAGE>
