PURPOSE:To conduct a breakdown test at extremely low temperatures and in a cryogenic intense magnetic field by providing a liquid helium tank under the testing device main body and arranging a liquid helium tank equipped with a superconductive coil under it, and lowering the mian body. CONSTITUTION:The fracture toughness testing device main body 2 has a test- piece attaching mechanism 24 at the lower end part and a load applying mechanism at the upper part and the 1st liquid helium tank 4 is arranged at the lower part; and an up/down driving mechanism 3 moves the main body 2 moves up and down the main body 2 and the 2nd liquid helium tank 6 which surrounds the 1st helium tank 4 and contains the superconductive coil 5. Then, the 1st and the 2nd helium tanks 4 and 6 are used properly according to the kind of each test-piece. Consequently, the operativity is improved, the consumption of liquid helium is reduced to eliminate a waste, and the test is conducted economically. |
