PURPOSE:A thermochromic material that is a composition containing an electron- donor and coloring organic compound, a compound bearing phenolic hydroxyls and an aliphatic carboxylic anhydride, thus showing reversible thermochromism punctually at a prescribed temperature. CONSTITUTION:(A) An electron-donating and color-developing organic compound such as crystal violet lactone, (B) (i) a compound bearing phenolic hydroxyls or its metal salt, (ii) an aromatic or 2-5C aliphatic carboxylic acid or its metal salt, (iii) an acidic phosphate ester or its metal salt, (iv) 1,2,3-triazole or its derivative, (v) 2-5C halohydrin or its derivative, and (C) an aliphatic carboxylic anhydride or a mixture thereof with an alcohol, ester, ketone, ether or acid amide are mixed and melted into a homogenous composition, the objective material.
