PURPOSE:To measure the life of operating parts by utilizing a signal generated in the light source deivce and measuring the degree of use of a lamp. CONSTITUTION:Data on the frequency of light emission of a flash discharge lamp is counted every time a synchronizing signal is sent from a camera 13 and the counted value of the frequency of synchronous light emission is stored positively in a RAM36. Halogen turn-on time data and the data on the frequency of light emission of the flash discharge lamp are transmitted to the camera 13 by pressing a specific key of a switch 40 and inputted to a camera control circuit 44. Consequently, a lamp turn-on integral time or the frequency of flashing is displayed on a display device 45. The life of the lamp is judged from the display value to decide whether the lamp needs to be replaced or not. A jig monitor which reads and displays the contents of the RAM37 is provided in the light source device 15 for said life judgement.
