PURPOSE:To secure the transmission of image information and perform fast real-time processing even through an image processor using a readout system and a recording system which operate independently of each other by maintaining the current mode without updating the contents of buffers when the buffer access of one system catches up with the buffer access of the other system. CONSTITUTION:The reader 51 and printer 52 are driven asynchronously with independent clocks respectively, so when the buffer selection of a write selector 55 for writing catches up with the buffer selection of a read selector 56 for reading, the write selector 55 does not update the contents of a writing buffer and selects a buffer 33 for a write mode again. On the other hand, when the buffer selection of the read selector 56 for reading catches up with the buffer selection of the write selector 55 for writing, the read selector does not update the contents of the reading buffer and selects a buffer 32 for a read mode again.
