PURPOSE:To reduce the discontinuance of an interpolated image and to improve the picture quality by limiting and detecting the variation of a representative dynamic vector from a representative dynamic vector which is detected in the past in consideration of the representative vector by the interpolating method which increases the number of frames per unit time of the motion picture signal. CONSTITUTION:A frequency distribution calculating circuit 32 calculates the appearance frequency distribution of respective vectors of one frame and outputs it to a comparator 34 through lines 32 and 34. The comparator 34 detects a dynamic vector with the largest appearance frequency in the frequency distribution as the representative vector, which is outputted to a line 3449. Dynamic area information from a line 3135 is read in a dynamic area memory 35 on the basis of timing information and outputted to a vector memory 49. The vector memory 49 is stored with the representative vector and outputs it to a line 4926 when the dynamic area information is 1. A divider 26 divides the representative vector supplied through the line 4926 by a coefficient for division and outputs it as a dynamic vector for interpolation to a line 1617. |
