The invention relates to a membrane capsule for thermal control of steam traps. The capsule housing consists of two parts which hold a membrane clamped in between them and are welded to one another at the outer edge. The lower capsule part supports a threaded connecting piece, through which an outer channel passes, for screwing into the through-hole of the steam trap. Above the threaded collar, the capsule lower part extends in its diameter as far as the clamping-in zone of the membrane, the wall thickness of the lower part being approximately a quarter of the total diameter, while the lateral inlet openings in the lower part consist of holes which have an opening cross-section corresponding to the wall thickness.
