Roofings and facade hangings with sandstone slabs are fastened by retaining structures and processes in a lasting and cost-effective manner. By raising the stone slabs, these retaining structures can be pushed underneath and then connect the stone slabs to the roof lathing by hooks. Since the slabs are held at the lower edge, they are safeguarded to a high extent against plunging downwards, e.g. in the case of fracture. In addition, they are also safeguarded against dampness, this being ensured by plastic panels being fitted on the retaining structure. The cost-effectiveness is achieved by the elimination of the labour-intensive transport of the slabs when re-laying a roof, since the slabs remain in situ.
