A prepared elastomeric original death mask, in addition to the associated gypsum shell, is used to produce a temporary positive gypsum casting on which a highly flexible, copied death mask, including the associated gypsum shell, is prepared and the copied positive gypsum casting is produced in which all the sunken face parts are built up in wax in order to reconstruct a lifelike form. According to the drawing in Fig. A, the gypsum shell g is cut out in an annular manner in the centre of the face and the mask e is laid forcibly stretched between the modified gypsum casting d and gypsum shell g, fixed and set with gypsum into the metal mould b, b', and after separation of the mould box halves a, b, a 1 cm thick wax slab is introduced into the gypsum shell ring g, the pressure tube h and air vent tube o being fused into the surface of said wax slab. After this preparation, the top mould box half a, a' is put on, closed and filled with gypsum, after which, after removal of the locating wax layer, a less highly flexible rubber material m is laminated g'' so as to be permanently bonded onto the forcibly stretched highly flexible death mask e with the aid of the connected injection pressure apparatus k and the final lifelike gypsum casting is prepared from the thus constructed death mask e for further operations as regards casting in bronze. <IMAGE>
