PURPOSE:To display the cause of abnormality automatically in case of abnormality occurrence by storing a specific abnormaltiy display screen signal in a TV receiver, and reading a stored abnormality display screen when an abnormality detector detects the abnormality and switching or superimposing a received television signal on the read abnormality display screen. CONSTITUTION:An abnormality detection signal from a gas leak sensor 4 is detected and applied to one input terminal of an AND gate 32, so an output appears at the output terminal 28 of an OR GATE 36 only when the output terminal Y3 of a logical circuit 30 is 1. Namely, only when the right lower part of a ROM20 is addressed (e.g. horizontal and vertical addresses), the abnormality display screen ignal is read out as a dot pattern, led out as color signals from a parallel-series converting circuit 29 to 18R, 18G, and 18B, and applied to a color signal switching circuit 19. The color signal switching circuit 19 switches a commercial television broadcast received television signal to abnormality display screen signal from terminals 18R, 18G, and 18B by the application of a signal from the output terminal 18 of an abnormality display screen generating circuit 17. Then, a screen showing a gas leak is displayed at the right lower part of a CRT16.
