PURPOSE:To improve the wear-resistant characteristics of the blade of a rotary compressor by making the blade from a material which is provided by nitrifying steel, cast iron or sintered alloy including chrome (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), tangsten (W) and vanadium (V). CONSTITUTION:Steel, cast iron or sintered alloy including chrome (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), tangsten (W) and vanadium (V) is used as the base metal 12 of the blade of this compressor. The quenching and the tempering treatment are performed on the base metal so that particles of primary compound (tangsten carbide) 13 and secondary compound (banadium carbide) 14 are scattered therein and the base metal gets high-hardness characteristics. Then the surface of the material thereof is subjected to the soft nitriding treatment to build up a compound layer 15 on the surface layer of the compound layer 15 contains main components of iron Fe, chromium Cr, sodium N, thereby greatly improving the wear-resistant characteristics.
