A window cleaning system for motor vehicles is described in which a hydraulic actuation element is controlled by means of pressure pulses, controlled as a function of time, of the fluid. In comparison with known hydraulic actuation elements which are controlled as a function of travel, the operational reliability is thus improved. In addition, a pressure-dependent distribution element is described with which the fluid can be diverted to various washing points or loads in an operationally reliable fashion. The distribution element is controlled by means of electromagnetic switching elements which, however, do not carry out the adjustment process but only limit or block the adjustment path. The switching forces of these electromagnets can be substantially reduced here in comparison with known solenoid valves.
