PURPOSE:To hold the distance between a holder and a carrier axially constant and to obtain a uniform image by forming a leveling member which is nearly cylindrical, decreases in external diameter from end parts to the center part, and is curved axially. CONSTITUTION:The carrier 5 and leveling member 4 are provided under a hopper 2 and pressed against each other while carrying a developer 1. The leveling member 4 consists of a core body 4a and an elastic body 4b covering the core body 4a, and this member 4 is nearly cylindrical, decreases in external diameter from end parts to the center part, and is curved axially. The difference between the radius at the end parts of the leveling member 4 and that at the center part is set to 0.2mm.. Consequently, the deflection of the carrier is reduced and the distance between the holder and carrier is held axially constant, so a uniform and stable image is obtained. |
