PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which improves lubricity on the surface, has a long life and prevents the damage and abrasion of a magnetic head as well by providing a Ti film and TiN film in this order on the surface of a vertical magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A high permeability soft magnetic film 2a and a vertical magnetized film 3a consisting of a Co-Cr film are formed on the surface of a high polymer flexible base 1a consisting of a polyimide film, etc. and thereafter the thin Ti film 7 then thin TiN film 8 are successively formed on the film 3a by a sputtering method, etc. The magnetic recording medium 30 which is improved in wear resistance and lubricity without affecting adversely the high-density magnetic recording characteristic, has high adhesive force of the TiN film 8 to the magnetic layer 3a and obviates exfoliation, etc. owing to the presence of the film 7 and has improved corrosion resistance is thus obtd. |
