A projectile having braking flaps (4) for aerodynamic braking of a rotational movement (2), especially a submunition body (1), is intended to be equipped with a holder for the braking flaps (4), which holder is of simple construction and is functionally reliable, for rapid braking, without having to perforate or weaken the outer surface (3), enclosing an active charge (5), for this holder. For this purpose, the braking flaps (4), which are matched to the geometry of the outer surface (3), are articulated by means of a two-armed lever (6) on spring arms (9) which run along curved regions in front of the outer surface (3). Located opposite a braking flap (4), the lever (6) is supported against the outer surface (3) by the contact pressure of the spring arm (9), as a result of which the braking flap (4) is held in its retracted quiescent position. When the braking flap (4) lifts off laterally, the free lever supporting end (14) is moved along the outer surface (3) until it comes into spring-loaded contact against the spring arm inner bulge (19) when the braking flap (4) is in the extended operating position. The friction on the outer surface (3) and the deflection of the spring arm (9) destroy the movement energy of the braking flap (4) moving out, which braking flap (4) is supported elastically in the operating position between the outer surface (3) and the spring arm (9), without it having been necessary to design the region of the lever pivoting axis (7) to absorb frictional or holding moments. <IMAGE>
