PURPOSE:To minimize leakage of oil from a gap between a rotor and a cam ring by having belt-like or linear springs abut each internal peripheral edge part of each vane to urge the vanes against the internal periphery of the cam ring. CONSTITUTION:Belt-like ring-like spring 52 and 53 are provided at the side end parts of the cover 20b of a rotor 19 and at the side end part of a pressure retainer 20f, respectively. Said springs abut the internal peripheral edge part of each vane 18, urging the vanes against the internal peripheral face 20d of a casing 20. The ring-like springs are placed in recesses 18a formed on each of the vanes, and made of spring steel shaped in the form of endless belt and having low rigidity and high elasticity.
