Method and device for detection of muscle spasms

The method for detection of muscle spasms utilises the fact that a muscle which has an approximately circular cross-sectional surface in the resting state assumes another cross-sectional surface in the contracted state, this surface having the shape of an epicycloid to a first approximation. This change in cross-section of the muscle is detected by a sensor and supplied to an electronic amplifier and display circuit.
