A car receiver is proposed with a traffic broadcast decoder and a transmitter scanning device in which the received field strength of the traffic radio transmitter is checked following each traffic announcement and, if the received field strength is low, the receiver is tuned to a traffic broadcast transmitter with stronger incoming signals. <IMAGE>
