METHOD OF CUTTING SIDE EDGE OF BAND PLATE

PURPOSE:To make cutting load uniform and reduce burrs produced at cut portions by changing a cutter angle according to the feed speed and depth of cut of a band plate when the side edge of the band plate is cut by a cutter having cutting edges twisted to a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:A cutter 3 having on the outer peripheral surface cutting edges 2 twisted by a certain angle to a rotary shaft 1 is used such that said rotary shaft 1 is inclined to a band plate 4 in the direction parallel to the advancing direction of the band plate 4 to cut the side edge of the band plate 4. And in the cutting, the slant angle of said rotary shaft 1 is changed according to the feed speed of the band plate and depth of cut. That is, the depth t of cut in the band plate 4 is detected by a depth-of-cut detecting sensor 16 and supplied to the input of a controller 15 so that a cutter position regulator is operated to correspond to the detected depth t of cut and change the slant angle of the cutter.
