PURPOSE:To detect clogging in nozzles without being influenced by the temporary change in the pressure of paint by detecting a decrease in the pressure of paint in a paint passage close to a spray gun, and correcting the detected signal of clogging in nozzles by the signal current corresponding to the decrease. CONSTITUTION:A microphone 7 for transducing an acoustic wave generated from a nozzle 6 when the paint is spouted into an electric current is arranged in the vicinity of the nozzle 6 of the spray gun 1 of an airless painting machine, and a band-pass filter 8 for transmitting only the electric current in a specified frequency band, an amplifier 10 for amplifying the electric current after passing through the filter 8, and a signal generator 12 for emitting a detected signal of clogging in nozzles when the amplified electric current becomes lower than a set value are successively connected to the microphone 7. In addition, a pressure sensor 15 for detecting a decrease in the pressure of paint in a paint passage and sending out a signal current corresponding to the decrease is provided in said paint passage close to the spray gun, and the amplifying degree of the amplifier 10 is increased by said signal current or the set value of the signal generator 12 is decreased.
