PURPOSE:To stabilize the alignment and conveyance of belt-like materials such as, for example, unvulcanized treads of cut pieces, in an alignining and conveying device, by shifting the materials on an introducing means onto an aligning and conveying means by means of an elevatable and retractable fork pawls. CONSTITUTION:The forward limit position of fork pawls 117 is previously set by means of limit switches in accordance with the width of belt-like materials W or the number of the materials to be aligned. A first material W1 which has come onto an introduction roller conveyor 20, is received by the fork pawls 117 which have been raised and which are then retracted and lowered to set once the material W1 on an aligning conveyor 30. During this operation, the next material W is introduced onto the introduction conveyor 20. Then the fork pawls 117 is advanced to lift up the second material W2 together with the first material W1, and is then retracted to deliver both materials W1, W2 onto the aligning conveyor 30. With the repetition of these steps a predetermined number of belt-like materials are aligned. With this arrangement the alignment and transfer of the belt-like materials may be stabilized.
