PURPOSE:To display a color dynamic picture while adding intermediate gradation in a large size display device adopting an optical fiber by applying spatial modulation to a light from a light source and using an optical fiber so as to lead the light subject to spatial modulation to the display panel. CONSTITUTION:The light from a CRT display device 1 displaying a picture is irradiated to a liquid crystal spatial light modulator 2 as a written light and the resistance of optical conductive film is changed. On the other hand, the light from a white light source 4 passes through a lens system 5 and is formed into a parallel light, reflected in a semi-transparent film of a beam splitter 3, read to a liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal spatial light modulator 2 and irradiated as the light. The irradiated light being a read light is modulated by the liquid crystal tortional nematic effect and the double refraction effect depending on the difference of the resistance of the photoconductive film, then returned to a beam splitter 3 again. The modulated light passes through the splitter 3 and a picture is displayed on a display board 7. The dynamic picture with intermediate gradation is displayed on the display board 7 by allowing the device 1 to control the content of picture image and intermediate gradation. |
