PURPOSE:To prepare a packed krill product useful as a food and a bait, having improved shelf stability, by treating a raw krill block with an antioxidant before thawing, packing it under vacuum. CONSTITUTION:The frozen plate 1 or raw krill is cut into the block 2, immersed in a solution of antioxidant (e.g., solution of sodium hydrosulfite) in the cold water tank 3, so that a film of an antioxidant is formed on the surface of the block 2. Then, it is immediately inserted into a synthetic resin bag, which is evacuated by suction, and sealed, to give the desired packed krill product. The product is then put in a refrigerator car, refrigerator, etc., transported, sold, and thawed when customers use it as food or bait. Consequently, quality deterioration, blackening, emission of bad smell, etc. of krill during process of distribution can be prevented. |
