Date Jun. 24, 1982.A method for manufacturing a tape drive member is provided which comprises forming a shaft from an alloy of a soft metal material and a hard metal material, subjecting part of the shaft to sand blasting for roughening, and chemically treating the roughened surface in a solution which is capable of dissolving the soft metal material. A tape drive member manufactured by this method is also provided.
