MANUFACTURE OF HIGH DENSITY RECORDING BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording body having a simple structure and high recording density by irradiating light or electron beams on a base film contg. a polymerizable monomer which is different from the base film in refractive index after placing a mask on the base film as required. CONSTITUTION:A polymer forming the base film and the polymerizable monomer which is different from the polymer in refractive index after polymn. are dissolved in a compatible solvent having a low b.p. The resulting soln. is cast and the solvent is evaporated to form a base film 12. A photomask 13 having printed dots of <=10mum size is placed on the base film 12, and light or electron beams 14 are irradiated to polymerize the monomer only in the irradiated parts. The unreacted monomer is then removed by heating or other method to form parts 15 which are different from the base film 12 in refractive index in the base film 12. The resulting film 12 is usually reinforced by sticking to other substrate.
