PURPOSE:To protect a propulsion apparatus and suppress the reduction of the propulsion efficiency by accommodating and arranging all the propulsion apparatuses such as screw and rudder inside the ship bottom wall. CONSTITUTION:A screw 1 and a rudder 2 are installed into a room 4 partitioned by a ship bottom wall 3 and abulkhead 15 extending inside. The screw 1 is operated by a driving apparatus 18, and the rudder 2 is operated by a steering apparatus. A water taking-in opening 6 is formed on a part of the ship bottom wall 3, and serves as a water inflow passage for the screw 1. Lattices, net 7, etc. suitable for the opening 6 are installed to suppress the intrusion of foreign materials into the room 4. Therefore, the breakage trouble of a propulsion apparatus due to the running ashore or the collision with drifting woods in navigation is prevented, and the entanglement of nets and seaweeds onto the screw is prevented. Further, the necessity of lifting-up the propulsion apparatus on anchorage is obviated.
