Tool for cleaning grooves in continuous casting moulds - prior to fixing replaceable insulation panels in the grooves

The grooves are cut below the feet of a human worker, and the tool consists of a long handle ending in a saddle using bolts to anchor a cutter. The cutter consists of a square blade with four chamfered cutting edges and two rows of bolt holes located at 90 degrees to each other so that all four edges of the cutter may be used. Alternatively the cutter is a tube with a chamfer on its top and bottom edges, i.e. the circular edges form the cutting blades, and the tube has several vertical rows of holes for bolting the tube onto the long handle so that another part of the cutter edges can be used after one part is worn. Used esp. during the fitting of removable panels made of thermal insulation materials and located inside moulds for the continuous casting of steel billets.
