PURPOSE:To decrease the capacity of resistors and protect display cells by inserting the first protective resistor per multiple display cells and inserting the second protective resistor between each unit and a common high-voltage power supply. CONSTITUTION:24 display cells 40, each having a cathode, a grid, and a fluorescent display segment, are assembled: 6 vertically and 4 horizontally, to form a unit 51; 35 units are assembled: 7 vertically and 5 horizontally, to form a block, which is connected to a high-voltage power supply 52 to form a display device. The first protective resistor 56 is connected per 4 display cells 40 aligned horizontally in the unit 51, connection points P are connected to the high-voltage power supply 52 via the second protective resistor 57 in series. Accordingly, the cell destruction based on the internal discharge of display cells can be prevented with the capacity of the protective resistors decreased, and a failure can be easily detected by providing a protective resistor per unit. |
