PURPOSE:To shorten the stopping time considerably by temporarily holding the close position of deflector at the position further in rotary direction than the close position under like operation upon interruption of load thereby applying hydraulic braking force onto a runner. CONSTITUTION:A horizontal shaft Pelton turbine will perform work by injecting pressure water led through curved inlet tube as high speed jet 3 through a nozzle 2 to the outercircumference of runner (not shown), where a needle 7 to be controlled through a servo motor is incorporated in the nozzle 2 to regulate the flow. While a deflector 9 is journaled rollably at the end of the nozzle 2 to rotate upon abrupt decrease of load and to deflect the jet 3 from the direction of runner through the water receiving face 9b. Here, the deflector 9 is further rotated than the close position under discharge operation upon interruption of load to collide the divided flow 3b flowing out of the trailing edge of the water receiving face 9b against the runner thus to produce the braking force. |
