PURPOSE:To prevent a local temperature drop on the surface of an image carrier and prevent an image from fogging by heating a sliding and rubbing member such as an elastic cleaning roller which is slided and rubbed against the surface of the image carrier in a press-contact state at temperature higher than ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION:A cleaning roller 4 is made of a proper elastic material and fitted to a hollow shaft 11. This hollow shaft 11 is supported pivotally on the housing 2a of the cleaning device through bearings B1 and B2, and a gear G which drives the roller 4 while connected operatively to a driving source is fitted to one prolongation part. Heater support members 13 and 14 are fixed to stationary frame members F1 and F2 concentrically with the hollow shaft 11 and supported through bearings B3 and B4 to face the hollow in the hollow shaft 11, and a heater 12 is arranged between the support members 13 and 14 while the end part of the heater 12 is led out and connected to a power source. A temperature sensor S arranged closely to the cleaning roller 4 turns on and off the heater so as to maintain the surface temperature of the roller 4 within a specific temperature range. |
