The invention relates to a monitoring and evaluation device on polygraphic machines for measuring defective and/or multiple sheets. The aim of the invention is the provision of a device of this kind with a higher stability and a wider field of application. The technical object of the invention consists in designing the device such that no mechanical loading of the electrical connections leading to breakage can occur and the measurements can be made independent of the position of the basic body. This object is achieved in that the basic body is attached at least at one side and is connected to movably mounted guide elements serving to eliminate air inclusions between the support surface and object being measured and also that a device serving for the acquisition and evaluation of the measurement changes caused by flexion is allocated to the evaluation circuit. To increase the accuracy of the measurements, the flexion line of the basic body is registered by strain gauges.
