MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which excels in the corrosion resistance, the environmental resistance and also the C axis orientation characteristics for production of a vertical magnetic recording medium and is capable of the high-density recording, by mixing Ar (argon) of <=60ppm into the magnetic layer of the recording medium containing a magnetic thin film layer of a Co-Cr alloy formed on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A Co-Cr film having <=60ppm Ar content has a small dispersion angle DELTATHETA50 together with the excellent C axis orientation and high environmental resistance. The C axis orientation characteristics are improved more with <=40ppm Ar content together with better weather resistance. While the corrosion holes are produced with a magnetic recording medium having >=60ppm Ar content. The degree of corrosion is increased with increase of the Ar content to cause the exfoliation of the Co-Cr film from its substrate.
