PURPOSE:To supply a liquid sample spotted on the surface of a porous developing layer to a lower water absorbing layer in a roughly fixed capacity per unit area by employing a knitted product therefor. CONSTITUTION:An integral multi-layer analysis element is made up of a water absorbing or water permeating reagent layer which contains a reagent to react with components in a liquid sample such as urine and a porous developing layer comprising a knitted product laminated in the order on a light transmitting or non-water permeable support preferably 80-300mum thick comprising polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate. Then, the knitted fabric used as the said porous developing layer includes a hosiery obtained by knitting a cotton spun yarn with the coarseness equivalent to 60-120S on the conditions of the gauge of 20-50, the thickness of 150-400mum and the void of 50-85%. With such an arrangement, the liquid sample can be developed sideways so that the liquid sample spotted on the top surface of the developing layer may be fed to the reagent layer in a roughly fixed capacity per unit area.
