A sensor for measuring an electrical current (IM) which flows in a current conductor (L) should have a linear relationship between the current to be measured (IM) and the output signal, it should be capable of high overloading and should be producible simply and with low costs. On a piezoresistive diaphragm area (M) of the sensor, at least one conductor track (AL) is arranged through which an auxiliary current (IH) is conducted, as a result of which a force acts on various sections of the at least one conductor track (AL) in dependence on the current to be measured (IM), which force contributes to the deformation of the diaphragm area (M) and can therefore be measured like a pressure. <IMAGE>
