PURPOSE:To realize a practical optical D flip-flop circuit which is sized small and suitable for the integration by using an optical switch and an optical bistable element. CONSTITUTION:Light digital data is inputted to the 1st input terminal 1 of the optical switch 8 and bias light having a DC amplitude value is inputted to the 2nd input terminal 2; and the bias light is outputted from the output terminal in the 1st state of the optical switch obtained corresponding to the 1st state of a clock Ec to bias the optical bistable element to one of two stable points. When the digital data is logically at '1', a positive light pulse having an amplitude value more positive than the DC amplitude value is outputted from the output terminal to set the optical bistable element in the 2nd state of the optical switch obtained corresponding to the 2nd state of the clock; when the light digital data is at a logical level '0', a negative light pulse having an amplitude value close to the DC amplitude value is outputted from an output electrode to reset the optical bistable element. |
