Rotating mechanical seal

A rotating mechanical seal which is arranged between a pressurised medium and a sealing liquid consists of a slip ring, which may interact with a counter-ring, a bellows connected to the said slip ring and ending in a gripping part in the region of its free end, and of a compression spring extending between the gripping part and the slip ring. If the pressure of the sealing liquid fails, the slip ring is pushed back axially and interacts with a secondary sealing location. By this measure, the static sealing at least is maintained. <IMAGE>
