<p>PURPOSE:To maintain the output frequency of a power generator substantially constant by selecting the number of poles of the generator and the slip rate of a fluid joint in response to the increase or decrease in the rotating speed of a propulsion shaft. CONSTITUTION:The propulsion shaft 2 of a Diesel engine 1 is coupled through an interlocking mechanism 3 and a fluid joint 4 to a pole change type generator 5. When the joint in which the slip becomes minimum at the arbitrary rotating speed of the main engine is used, the rotating speed of the generator is maintained constant due to the increase in the slip rate at the rotating speed or higher. On the other hand, the pole number conversion of the generator is performed to decelerate the synchronous speed at the rotating speed of the main engine or lower that the slip rate of the joint becomes maximum. Thus, a slip occurs in the joint to again control the rotating speed.</p> |
