The invention relates to a fuel additive for inhibiting corrosion as well as swelling and the degradation of elastomers, caused by alcoholic or alcohol-containing fuels, and for increasing the lubricity, by the addition of the fuel additive to alcoholic or alcohol-containing fuels, characterised in that the additive contains one or more reaction products of a carboxylic acid or acid chlorides thereof, selected from the group comprising unsubstituted aromatic carboxylic acids, aliphatic carboxylic acids, nitro-substituted aromatic carboxylic acids and corresponding acid chlorides thereof, and an amine selected from the group comprising aliphatic amines, cycloaliphatic amines and aromatic amines. The invention also relates to a fuel mixture for internal combustion engines, whose main constituent contains a) about 1 to 100 % by volume of an alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and about 99 to 0 % by volume of gasoline, individual gasoline hydrocarbon components or dimethoxymethane, and whose minor constituent b) represents the fuel additive described above in general terms.
