PURPOSE:To utilize effectively an irradiating light quantity, and to secure uniformly the inensity of illumination on the surface of a platen by providing a reflector for diffusing and reflecting a light into a housing, on the lower part of a flash light source installed on one side face of the inside wall of the housing. CONSTITUTION:A flash light source 5 and a reflector 20 are provided on one side wall in a housing 2, by which a light travelling toward right below from the light source is diffused and reflcted toward an opposed part A. As a result, the adjcacent part of the light source does not become a bright spot, and the light reaches a platen glass 4 after the multipath reflection, the whole surface of an object to be copied 10 becomes a uniform intensity of illumination, and its projected image passes through an image forming lens 7 and a filter 25, and it is projected onto a photosensitive surface 9. Accordingly, the irradiating light quantity is utilized effectively, the power consumption is saved, and a good copy picture quality can be obtained.
