Water flows from inlet (3) to outlet (4) through a gap between valve seat (18) and plug (9). A magnetic field from permanent magnet (7) acts across the gap. Magnet (7) is sealed against water by sleeve (8), plug (9), and adjusting cap (11) held together by screw (10) and provided with sealing rings (16). Flow rate and magnetic field are simultaneously adjusted by rotation of external knob (12) to screw cap (11) into housing (5). Adjustment is limited by stop (15) cooperating with radial indicator pin (14).
