PURPOSE:To attain to enhance the accuracy of molding by enabling highly accurate positional control, by mounting a position detecting body in the piercing hole of the support rod for supporting the slide of an apparatus in a state fixed to the upper end part of the support rod and arranging a position detector to said position detecting body. CONSTITUTION:Equilibrium support apparatuses 7 such as hydraulic cylinders, each of which protrudes a rod to both upper and lower side, freely rising and falling by a hydraulic servo valve 6 are respectively arranged vertically to four corner parts of a head 5 in the longitudinal direction thereof to horizontally support a slide 4. A piercing bore 14 is opened through the central part of each support rod 13 for protruding the rod to both upper and lower sides and a rigid position detecting body 15 such as a rod shaped linear scale is inserted into the piercing bore 14 to secure the upper end thereof. When press molding is performed, even if the support rods 13 of the equilibrium support apparatuses 7 are inclined by the strain of the frame such as an upright of a press molding machine 1 or the distortion and the inclination, not only in before and rear directions but also right and left directions, of the slide 4 or by the gap or abrasion of the slide parts of the equilibrium support apparatuses 7 themselves, the position detecting body 15 can detect a position accurately and precise equilibrium support control can be applied to the equilibrium support apparatuses 7.
