Process for producing stable, oxygenated active centres in a composition made up of a polyolefin or a mixture of polyolefins, by irradiation of the composition and oxygenation, characterised in that the irradiation is conducted in the presence of air to produce an oxygenation of the active centres under irradiation. The invention also covers the irradiated intermediate product obtained and a process for the production of polyolefins which can be crosslinked by grafting a hydrolysable silane compound.
