PURPOSE:To enable color printing with high quality free of misregister of colors, by a method wherein an ink layer provided with a multiplicity of picture elements consisting of a plurality of color inks is provided on a base of a transfer paper, and register marks for detecting the positions of the picture elements are provided. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer recording medium A comprises a recording paper 1 and a transfer paper 2 having the ink layer 2a faced to the recording paper 1, the papers being laminated on and integrated with each other, and is provided with joint parts 3, 4 formed by fixing both side parts in the width direction of the papers 1, 2 by a bonding means such as an adhesive so that the papers are not staggered from each other and the paper 2 can be easily released from the paper 1 side after completing printing. When performing color printing, the medium A is fitted to a platen roller without positioning the papers 1, 2 for each color, and the register marks 5, 5' are provided, which are detected by a detecting part to securely bring heating elements of a thermal head into registration with the picture elements of the ink layer 2a, whereby color printing can be performed with high quality free of misregister of colors. |
