PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of a developed color density or decoloring from occurring due to an oil or fat, by using a specified phenolic compound as a color developer, in a thermal recording material utilizing a color forming reaction of a leuco dye with a color developer. CONSTITUTION:A phenolic compound of the formula, wherein n is an integer of 0-8, is used as a color developer in a thermal recording material utilizing a color forming reaction of a leuco dye with a color developer. Accordingly, a thermal recording material can be obtained in which neither lowering of the density of a developed color part nor decoloring of the part is caused by an oil or fat, and development of ground color hardly occurrs due to adhesion of an alcohol or the like. A color developing substance consisting of the phenolic compound is generally used in an amount of 1-10pts.wt., preferably, 2-6pts.wt., per 1pts.wt. of the leuco dye. |
