PURPOSE:To elevate the joint strength by a method wherein a laser beam irradiates and melts the surface of synthetic resin material and a compressed gas is blown against the melted portion thereof so that the melt is heaped on the surface of the upper synthetic resin material from the opening to prevent denaturalization of the melt. CONSTITUTION:When plate members 1 and 2 made of heterogeneous synthetic resin material are joined together, for example, a laser irradiation nozzle 5 is positioned above an opening 3 of the plate member 2 of polypropylene resin without abutting thereon and irradiates a YAG laser beam 5a along the opening 3. Here, the surface of the plate member 1 is heated and melted quickly. Then, as a compressed gas is blown against the surface of the melt 1a, it 1a heaps above the opening 3 and covers the thin portion 4. After a pipe 7 is retracted, the melt 1a of the plate member 1 is hardened to firmly join the plate member 1 made of a stylene-acrylonitryl copolymer and the plate member 2 made of polypropylene resin. In this case, one synthetic resin material is heaped on the rugged surface of the other synthetic resin material to join and thus, the denaturalization of the melt is prevented to elevate the joint strength. |
