摘要 PURPOSE:To enable a high developed color density, a high color forming sensitivity and a high ground brightness, by using a specified diester compound as an auxiliary component in a thermal recording material. CONSTITUTION:A diester compound of the formula, wherein R is a 1-10C alkylene group, and each of X and Y, which may be the same or different, is a lower alkyl group or a halogen atom, is used as an auxiliary component in a thermal recording material utilizing a color forming reaction of a leuco dye with a color developer. The diester compound has high capability of dissolving a phenolic compound (which is a widely used color developer) and the leuco dye when being heated. By controlling the melting point of the diester compound, it is possible to obtain a thermal recording material having an arbitrary sensitivity. In view of the preservation stability and the sensitivity of the thermal recording material, the diester compound preferably has a melting point of 40-150 deg.C. The leuco dye may be a leuco compound of a dye based on triphenylmethane, fluoran or the like.
